Artist Statement: Shiloh Lillith
For many years, I experimented with various forms of art and crafts
looking for something to hold my attention, but nothing stuck until Jeanie Boardman Bard of
Newport, Oregon – almost 20 years ago – dragged me kicking and screaming into the world of beads.
When first approached on the subject of her teaching me to bead, I laughed at her. Patience is
not my strong suit. But she persisted, and in spite of the fact that she loves to volunteer the info that I am
by far the most difficult student she ever had, she also is proud of me and my accomplishments as much as if
she were my blood mother. (Tho I hasten to point out that she is far too young to be so unless I was
conceived in the cradle)......I always make a point of mentioning her because without her, I would not
be who I am today.....a moderately sucessful bead artist and a very satisfied human being.
I started out making small appliqued jewelry, graduated to large breast plates and from there real "art"
that has been shown in galleries and has been sold. Because there was a demand
for my work by people who just don't want a huge wall piece, I started stringing jewelry. All of my
pieces are one of a kind . I use vintage beads, semi-precious stones, Swarovski crystals and
TierraCast® findings. The findings are plated with silver, copper or gold unless otherwise
specified.
I will do custom work, if requested. If you have any questions about my
work, please feel free to contact me.
